Barcelona - 1989
My name is Javi Sánchez (alias Daytona Photo). Why Daytona? Simple. There are many "Javi Sánchez Photography", so I wanted to do something different using "Daytona Photo" as a nickname.
When I was 16 years old, I sold my old Playstation to be able to buy my first digital camera and this was probably one of the best decisions of my life. Thanks to that I finally discovered the beautiful world of photography and what has ended up being my profession.
When I was 20, I started my degree in Photography at the Institut d'Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya (Barcelona).
I got interested in Adobe Photoshop, so I finished my studies with a Master in Professional Digital Photo Retouching, which gave me the best base to become a professional retoucher. Also, I've attended several retouch and photo-manipulation workshops and learned "Matte-painting" techniques.
I have always been a very ambitious person and while studying my Photography degree, I was doing different jobs and projects. My first job being, a photographer of a Jewelry brand.
Shortly after, I began as an e-commerce retoucher working directly and indirectly with brands such as Desigual, By Malene Birger, Mango, Zara, Uterqüe, Nice Things, Rosa Clará, Hackett London and more.
For some years, I have been working as a self employed photographer and retoucher and also collaborating with photographers from different areas like architecture, fashion, e-commerce and publicity.
Currently, I have started a new stage in my life, being teacher in an Art School sharing my knowledge and helping and introducing my students in the wonderful world of photography.
